Q. Are your prices competitive?
A.Expressions Underfoot Gives you value that is unmatched anywhere.

Q. What are your hours?
A. We set up an appointment at a convenient time for you - evenings or weekends are no problem

Q. I saw  some flooring in -------store. Are you able to get it?
A. Possibly. Identifying carpet is hardest, as most stores private lable carpet to prevent customers comparing prices.  But we can always chexk to see if we can find the make abd brand you found elsewhere.

Q.I have already bought the flooring - will you install it?
A. We do not install carpet purchased from another supplier. If you have purchased other types of flooring, please feel free to call us for an installation quote.

Q. What is your price per square foot(square yard)?
A. That varies by product, but although we can give you this, we suggest you instead ask for the overall price, as that's the most important figure you need!

Q.I have the measurements, can you give me a price over the phone?
A. we like to look at a job before giving a quote, a price, as there are usually things to take into account that you may not be aware of. Ourvisit is free, and we are not high pressure salesmen so why not call us for an on-site quote?

Q.I was thinking of buying inexpensive carpet and upgrading the pad.
A. Buying Michelin tires will not turn your Hyundai into a Mercedes, and the same goes for carpet pad and carpet.  It is better to buy the best carpet you can afford and use standard pad that meets the warranty guidelines.

Q. How long is the warranty?
A. With manufacturers offering longer and loger warranties - up to "lifetime" (whatever that means), the length of a warranty seems to be a sellling point. The question you should ask is what does the warranty cover - unfortunately the usual answer is "not much"!

Q. I saw an advertisement offering free installation, can you match that?
A. Always get the price for the finished job - you may get an unpleasant surprise at what hidden costs are included in other areas with a "free installaion" deal.  Our overall prive is usually better than anywhere offering a "fre installation" deal.

Q. How long will this floor last?
A. This depends on how you treat the floor and you level of tolerance for wear and tear. Most carpets these days go out of fashion before they wear out. Most wood floors can be refinished and could last for decades. Price is a good indicator of quality - you cannot expect a cheap floor to last as long as a better floor.

Q. Can I keep the cost down if I help with the installation?
A.If you wish to remove the old flooring, that will reduce the cost a little. But helping with installaion is not possible because it takes specialized training and technique, and also having outside installers will present an insurance liability.

Q.Should I be worried about fumes from having a new floor installed?
A.There is no formaldehyde in carpet or pad, so there is very little to worry about from a carpet installtion. Most adhesives used in wood flooring are very low in volatile compounds. If you have some particular concern, please raise the question during the estimate visit.

Q.Can I save money by reusing the old carpet pad?
A. Reusing the old carpet pad is not usually a good idea. First, usually the old carpet pad is pretty dirty, degraded and dusty after years of use. Secondly it will probably void any new carpet warranty. As the carpet pad is not usually a huge contributor to the cost, it's better to just plan to get a new carpet pad at the time you select new carpet.

Q. Is bamboo flooring as good for the environment as I hear?
A. In our opinion, the best floor from an environmental point of view is a solid wood floor from a local species, carpet made from recycled plastic, or cork flooring.  Bamboo has to be transported from Asia, and many times is soaked in formaldehyde as part of the curing process, so the environmental benefits are outweighted during the curing and transportation phases or the product.

Q. Should I buy laminate or real wood flooring?
A. Each product has its place, but they are not interchangeable. A quality laminate floor will stand up to a lot of abuse before showing wear or damage. However it is only "damage resistant". When it wears out it will have to be replaced. A solid wood floor is more susceptible to dents and scratches - depnding on the type of wood and the quality of the finish. However it can be refinished and will last indefinitely. A wood floor will usually add value to the property.

Q. What is the difference between a solid wood floor and an engineered wood floor?
A. Engineered wood flooring is made like plywood, with three of more plies and a top wear layer of the desirable species. Because of the construction engineered flooring can be installed below grade and can be glued or floated on concrete.
Solid wood flooring is usally 3/4" thick, although some thinner products are available, and is usually nailed or stapled to a wood subfloor above grade.
