“Wrong.. that's Microsoft propaganda. If they didn't want to release the proprietary portion of the source code all they had to do was pull the product and remove the GPL code. There is no "gotcha" here. Most copyright owners would be perfectly happy with that decision in lieu of suing for infringement. Even if they did, the result would be money and not code.One could say that Microsoft choose to be lazy and just release the product under the GPL instead of re-writing the [now] missing parts.

My XBOX 360 broke with the dreaded 3-rings of death.It took less than 2 weeks for me to get a totally new xbox, a free 3-month subscription to xbox live, and a free game (which isn't that great... but hey, it is free). More importantly, I wasn't on the phone more than half an hour trying to get customer service... it was quick, little hassle, and no questions asked.So... shame that they half-assed the console the first time, but they certainly didn't drop the ball in customer service.
