What I think is so sad is that the army and news media would rather focus on Hasan's religious delusions than on the root cause of those delusions and how they perhaps were exacerbated by the US' propensity to make war on Muslim countries for dubious reasons which seem to change according to where the political wind is blowing. They would rather portray Hasan as a terrorist than focus on the grotesque military culture and its discrimination against Muslims; the shameful inadequacies in the bureaucracy that allowed Hasan to inhabit Ft. Hood although they were aware that he was very ill or deranged, a disaster that was waiting to happen; ignoring the questions raised regarding the issue of when it is appropriate to send certain persons into combat, especially if they are medical personnel who supposedly would be better utilized off the battlefield. Like Vietnam, no one can come up with a credible reason as to why we're in Afghanistan, destroying a country and its culture, fomenting extremism and corruption as well as a booming heroin industry. After eight years of this, there is no sign of bin Laden, which tells me (and should tell any thinking person) that he was just an excuse to start this war. In fact, he's probably dead..
You get quite a lot of NASA "Astronomoy Pic of the day" submissions to Digg, always great. Don't know why I don't check it out more often!!
