It may not be important to see every character, but to see a message as it is being typed can be useful during chat as it will speed up the conversation (you've already read the message by the time they are done typing). Also, I'm sure it would be helpful in collaborative circumstances where you can review what people are typing as they do it. You don't have to wait a minute or two to correct someone if you spot they are on the wrong track.

Sorry, but I know that's not true.The most casual search of the Internet will show you that that liberals (including Kennedy) are the ones protesting and stalling the Nantucket wind farm in Massachusetts, while in California Gov. Schwarzenegger can't get companies to sign on to huge solar power arrays in the Mojave desert thanks to environmentalists.There may be conservatives against the idea of solar or wind due to their gross inefficiencies, but I've not heard any (there may be some of course) against them on the NIMBY basis.
